Formula OneAs the world’s most expensive sport, Formula One, or F1, in its abbreviated form, is the highest stage a professional race driver can participate in. It commands the highest discipline that a racer may find in the world of motor racing. The Formula One world championship is held through a series of races knows as the Grand Prix. Possibly one of the most famous Grand Prix circuits is that in Monte Carlo, where the race is actually takes place on a circuit around the streets of the city which need to be closed off for the event. But the majority of circuits and race tracks are all purpose built to withstand the speed and to test the ability of the race drivers. Europe is considered as something of a central base for Formula One racing, as all of the teams derive from there, and over half of the races take place in circuits situated around Europe. The interest in the sport has become so widespread that many of the Grand Prix races are now situated all over the globe. One of the newest entrants to supply a Grand Prix circuit is India, with it being added to the list in the Formula One series commencing in 2011. Millions upon millions of people will tune in to watch the races live. The media attention it attracts is enormous, and this is a perfect breeding ground to merchandise the event. Its popularity will spark a lot of interest from sponsors, who know just exactly how much publicity they will gain themselves. |
